About Me
Hello, my name is Matthew Ketchum and I grew up in Illinois. I went to North Central College in Naperville IL where I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and minor in Marketing. After I graduated college I joined AmeriCorps*VISTA (domestic PeaceCorps) for a 1-year National Service. They placed me in the Central Valley of California. My mission was to “Bridge the Digital Divide” and create free computer workshops for unemployed and low income. I created 7 free computer workshops and taught over 900 students my first year. After this experience I decided to focus my talents in educational technology field. I am happy in the Central Valley and now have made Modesto CA my home.
Since my experience being an AmeriCrops*VISTA I have held several jobs as a Software Trainer for vocational schools and nonprofits. During that time I went back to school to CSU Sacramento and got my teaching credential with a focus in Information Technology, Finance and Business. I currently work at Modesto City Schools where I was the Instructional Technology Trainer responsible for training both certificated and classified staff at all our 34 school sites how to use technology. Recently I have been promoted to the Ed Services Department as the District Instructional Technology Coach serving all teachers at our school sites with meaningfully integrating technology in the classroom. I also teach computer workshops to the public at the Modesto Community College. I enjoy teaching technology and sharing my knowledge with others. I graduated with my Masters of Education Curriculum and Instruction in Technology from Grand Canyon University. I feel I have a better understanding as a trainer and coach to create engaging and enriching learning environments. The educational experience has assisted me in better aligning technology, curriculum, standards, and best practices with my current occupation.
